Who We Are
BCCB, otherwise known as the 18th Street Church because of its original location, is an acronym for Baptist Conference Church of Bacolod also known as Ikthus.
BCCB is a local body of Christ comprised of people from all walks of life and different sectors of society. What binds these people together is the love of the Lord Jesus Christ and the desire to worship Him.
BCCB believes in reaching out to people by leading them to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, counseling the troubled, praying for the sick, and helping them grow into spiritual maturity.
BCCB is a Grace-driven Church for a Grace-needing world.
Mission
To EVANGELIZE our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ, ESTABLISH new believers into Christ-like maturity, EQUIP believers for their ministry within the church, ENCOURAGE each other in the faith, EMPOWER our ministry through prayer and EXALT God through praise and worship in order to advance His kingdom.
Vision
The vision of BCCB is to creatively implement the Great Commission to build a growing community of churches around the perimeter of Bacolod city by establishing relevant churches every 3 years that are committed to dynamic worship of God while extending His transforming grace to reach the unchurched community.
At BCCB it is our desire that you catch the vision God has given us, that you begin to visualize. We have worked hard at defining our vision so that it is clear, challenging, and concise, it is our desire that you clearly see the future of the ministry- what it can be and what it must be But most importantly, we want you to capture the concept of our vision so that it will capture you and provide a foundation for our personal ministry with us at BCCB. · CREATIVELY IMPLEMENT THE GREAT COMMISSION
Jesus summarized his purpose for being on earth in Luke 19:10. He said, “For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” In his final instructions he made the purposes of the church clear. “ Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matt. 28:19-20). Therefore, our vision includes pursuing the lost in the most culturally relevant format. This includes implementing Christ’s commission on both an innovative and creative manner to the unchurched of our community.
· BUILD A GROWING COMMUNITY OF CHURCHES
Unchurched people are nine times more likely to come to a new church rather than a older, established church. (Christianity Today). We feel that the best means of impacting our area with the transforming message of Christ is to plant culturally relevant churches, like BCCB, around our community. For us, this means starting a new satellite church every 3 years in strategic locations so as to build a perimeter of churches around the city.
· COMMITTED TO DYNAMIC WORSHIP
Because our vision is to extend the transforming grace of Jesus Christ, we believe that the most fundamental relationship people can have is an active, living relationship with God through Jesus Christ His son (John 10:10, Romans 6:23).
· EXTENDING HIS TRANSFORMING GRACE
By the grace of God, the city of Bacolod will be a changed community in 10 to 15 years , due to the influence of the Spirit of God through the lives of or people who are devoted to extending the transforming grace of Jesus Christ. It is our vision that the members of BCCB will take Christ into homes, marketplaces, political arenas and educational settings.
· REACH THE UNCHURCHED
Finally, our vision includes the intentional pursuit of reaching those who have stopped attending, or have never attended a church. In other words, those who have not experienced God’s transforming grace.
What We Believe
The Bible is the Word of God, written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and is the divine authority for the church and for the life of man.
God, the Creator of heaven and earth, has revelaed Himself as the Father, Son and the Holy spirit.
That man was created by God, in His image and likeness and enjoyed sweet fellowship with Him but fell into sin by his own act and choice.
That because of sin, man is separated from God, and man cannot reach God by his own efforts.
That God provided a way by which man could be reconciled to Him. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ – the ultimate sacrifice so that by His blood that was shed on Calvary, there is forgiveness of sins.
That through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ man could obtain eternal life and that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
That Jesus is alive and will come again. That this “good news” should be taught and spread out for all to know and receive Christ’s blessings as we eagerly await His coming.
This we believe, and we shall be glad to share these divine truths revealed to us by the Scriptures. Jesus is the only was as He, Himself declares:
“I am the Way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
