Gallery Update: 1st Mobilization Coach Training

1st Mobilization Coach Basic Training: A Dream Actualized

To be an Equipping Center for God’s people was a mandate so clearly received from the Lord for our
church years back.

We thank God for everyone who believed and supported this dream. The Ikthus Leadership Institute (ILI) was formally organized last year and recently, we were just informed that Ikthus is now one of the training centers for BCP’s Retool Training for the whole Philippines. The purpose is to give continuous holistic and relevant instructions for leadership and service both to the church and the community as a whole.

Last April 23-25, 2008, we had the 1st Mobilization Coach Basic Training for BCP’s (Baptist Conference of
the Philippines) Pastors and Workers at Nature’s Village Resort, Talisay City. Around 35 people came from all over the Philippines to attend the event. We were blessed to have with us Pastor Gary Harrison and Pastor Ray Swatkowski, the authors of the BGC Retool Kit Training themselves. They came all the way from America together with Pastor Cirilo Doguiles, BGC Inter-Cultural Missions Director.

We need more men and women to serve God in this ministry. If you know that God has gifted you with leadership and teaching skills, the call is on for you!

Law & Grace by Pastor Jerry Osbron

The December 2006 flood in Bacolod was a major blow to every business and establishment crossed by the forceful waters. The Ikthus Equipping Center was not exempt from it. Drenched with mud and stagnant water, the 20 years of busy church life memories were all but kept away from ruins. Documents, photos, videos . . .destroyed.

It was back to square one. If individually drying old photos and tapes were sure tickets to heaven, ours would have been a roundtrip fare. Good for 20 people.

The process was long and more often than not, we were tempted to blow everything up in a spontaneous frenzy and tell the people, “WHAT. WHATCHU GON DO ABOUT IT?”

By God’s grace and our ability to remain sane (believe me it was hard), the bulk of Ikthus’ multi-media documents have slowly been restored, ready to be reminisced by the old members and discovered by the new ones.

After the ramblings of this seriously sleep-deprived writer, we finally present to you one of the first videos restored by our amazing, brilliant, highly capable and not at all painful to look at team.

Pastor Jerry Osbron, our church planter, talks about Law and Grace in this video which coincides with Pastor Joe’s series of the Romans book this year.

So sit back, make yourselves comfortable and pray that no flood ever destroys any of your photos because it is a pain to dry them one by one.

Pabahay Project

Gawad Kalinga, International Care Ministries and our church, BCCB (Ikthus) are in partnership to build houses for the less fortunate. The Pabahay Project is now at work and a church small group headed by Dan Figueroa joined the ministry project just this April 12, 2008. Dan Figueroa and small group, together with our church representative Pabahay Project coordinator, Ralph Belzunce invites us help build houses at Barangay Banago, Bacolod City. Expanding!

Renovation/Construction Update(040508):

We are currently undergoing renovation for expansion of the main worship area, the sanctuary. As of now, the main hall accomodates about 250 to 300 people. Expanding through the old pastor’s office and Celebrate Recovery Ministry office we are estimating around 400 to 500 maximum seating capacity for the main hall.
